Tommy Lee, real name Thomas Lee Bass, is an American musician, best known as one of the founding members and drummer of Mötley Crüe. The band was formed in 1981 and gained prominence some three years later, following the release of their album Shout at the Devil. In the late 1990s he has temporarily withdrawn from the group to start a new band, entitled Methods of Mayhem. Thomas was born in Athens, in a family of Vassiliki Papadimitriou and David Oliver Bass. His mother was a real Greek beauty, the winner of 1957 Miss Greece contest, while his father was a US Army servicemen temporarily based in Europe.
