Fantasia Monique Barrino, professionally known as Fantasia, is an R&B singer and actress form the United States. She gained prominence in 2004, appearing on reality show-singing competition American Idol. Following this breakthrough, Fantasia released a singe “I Believe”, which hit Billboard Hot 100 at No. 1. Her debut album, entitled Free Yourself, reached the stores in 2004. Two years later Fantasia finished recording an eponymous album that garnered 3 Grammy nominations. Since then this singer has released two more studio albums, Back to Me and Side Effects of You. In the second half of the 2000s Barrino joined the Broadway actors and appeared in the musical The Color Purple. Her performance in this show earned fantasia Theatre World Award. Fantasia was born in North Carolina, in a family of Joseph and Diane Barrino. Her parents were talented musicians and the whole family used to travel around the state, performing in towns and villages.
